Bromocriptine

First-generation dopamine agonist. FDA-approved for hyperprolactinaemia and Parkinson's. Used to control prolactin on 19-nor AAS. Less tolerated than Cabergoline — more nausea and cardiovascular effects.

Side effects and watch-outs

  • ⚠️ Nausea/vomiting (much more common than Cabergoline — take with food)
  • Orthostatic hypotension

  • Cardiac valve changes at very high chronic doses
  • Compulsive behaviours at high doses
